How to read the brand ranking and sub-scores
What each column in Every brand, ranked by customers means, how the rank adjusts for review count, and how to read the sub-score table.
Every brand, ranked by customers lists every brand at the airport, ranked by customer rating adjusted for how many reviews sit behind it. Each row shows rating and reviews, price vs market, typical compact rate per day, desk type, and the advantages and disadvantages. Below it, a second table gives every brand's score for each part of the hire against the airport average.
Find your brand
Read its rank, rating and number of reviews.
Read price vs market
+ means dearer than the market median for the same car type and day, - means cheaper, "in line" means close to it.
Read the desk
In the terminal, shuttle bus, meet and greet, or off airport.
Read advantages and disadvantages
These are sub-scores at least 0.3 above or below the airport average, prices at least 10% off market, desk location, and flags like few reviews or mileage limits.
Open the sub-score table
"How each brand scores, by part of the hire" shows all seven scores, with ▲ for 0.3 or more above average and ▼ for 0.3 or more below.
The seven sub-scores
Cleanliness, pick-up time, drop-off time, car condition, efficiency, ease of finding the desk, and value for money. On the page some show as "Pick-up speed", "Drop-off speed" and "Easy to find".
Why a higher score can rank lower
At Madrid Barajas in the Rate Pulse sweep of 7 Nov 2026, Drivalia rated 8.4 from 9 reviews and ranked 4th. Sixt rated 8.3 from 7,968 reviews and ranked 1st.
The rank pulls small review counts towards the airport average. Nine reviews can't tell you much, so Drivalia's 8.4 counts for less than Sixt's 8.3. Drivalia is also marked "(few offers)", with "Only 9 reviews" and "Available 4 of 14 days" in its disadvantages.
Things to know
- Scores are out of 10, from customer reviews shown on rentalcars.com, weighted by review count across each brand's desks at that airport.
- We don't check the ratings. They're the booking site's.
- Low prices often carry a bigger deposit, excess or fuel policy. Read price vs market next to the rating, not on its own.
