The US federal holidays, how spring break spreads out, and Mexico's national holidays and school recesses, for operators selling into LAX, MCO, MIA, JFK, LAS, SFO, DEN, CUN and MEX.
By the DayRunner team ·
This page lists the US federal holidays and Mexico's public holidays for 2026 to 2027, plus the school breaks we could verify from an official source. US dates come from the Office of Personnel Management. Mexico's school dates come from the Secretaría de Educación Pública. Mexico's public holidays come from Nager.Date. The demand notes under each country are general patterns, not data.
Rate Pulse lists nine North American airports (LAX, MCO, MIA, JFK, LAS, SFO, DEN, CUN and MEX). They show "rates coming" until their first sweep, so check the rates index for status.
For 2026 we only list what's still ahead from November. 2027 is listed in full.
These are the observed dates for federal employees. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it's observed the Friday before. On a Sunday, the Monday after.

Federal holidays bind federal employers only. Private employers set their own, and states add their own holidays.
There's no national school calendar in the US. Every district sets its own, and so does every university. That's why spring break arrives in waves.
We could open one large district's official 2026 to 2027 calendar, New York City's. Other big districts near Rate Pulse airports (Los Angeles, Miami-Dade, Orange County in Florida, Denver) had no official calendar we could open on 7 November 2026. Third-party sites disagreed on their dates, so we've left them out.

No. Each school district and university sets its own, so spring break runs as waves through March and April. NYC public schools, for example, are off 22 to 30 April 2027, around Passover. Check the districts and colleges that feed the airport you sell at.
Federal holidays apply to federal employees. Private employers choose their own, so not every worker gets every federal holiday off. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day are the ones that move travel the most.
